Adoption Procedure
• Visit the Pet Adoption Center: sign in at the reception desk first and then tour the cattery or kennels.
• Visit with an animal of interest to you in a play yard or get-acquainted room.
• All family members must come to the center to meet the potential adoptee. If adopting a dog, you must bring in any dogs living in your household. It's very important that all family members are happy and the dogs get along before the adoption is completed.
• A family member may make a selection and place a 24-hour hold on the animal so that the other family members, and dogs if applicable, can get to the Center to meet the cat or dog.
• Once you've decided on an animal, you must fill out an application which is reviewed by an adoption counselor.
• Once an interview with an adoption counselor is completed and it is determined that the adoption would be beneficial to both you and the animal, the adoption will be approved.
• Individuals who adopt our animals go through an extensive adoption process where they are counseled on the medical, physical and emotional needs of the particular dog or cat they are adopting. Post adoption counseling is always available.
• Adoption fees range from $94 to $198. Fees are based on a variety of factors: cat or dog, breed, and age of the animal. All animals are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and micro-chipped.
• The adoption process takes approximately one hour. No new adoptions will begin one hour before closing.
• All cats must leave wearing a safety collar and in a carrier; Dogs must leave wearing a collar and on a leash. Cats and dogs must have an engraved name tag which is made while you wait. Please keep in mind that all proceeds from the sale of these items benefit the center.
