The Pet Adoption Center is a limited-entry, no kill facility that takes in cats, dogs, kittens and puppies from owners who can no longer care for them. Each pet must undergo an evaluation of health and behavior prior to being accepted. It is important that each animal is healthy, non-aggressive, friendly and adoptable. The following documentation must accompany each dog and cat upon admission:
- Certificate/proof of spay or neuter
- Proof of current rabies vaccination (dogs and puppies over 4 months of age)
- Proof of yearly vaccinations
At this time the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center does not have a clinic or a veterinarian on staff. Therefore, pets that are not spayed or neutered or are not current on their rabies vaccination must be transported to a local veterinarian for services at discounted costs.
If a pet is not spayed or neutered or current on vaccinations, the Adoption Center may require that the owner pay a small fee for these services. The costs are as follows:
| Processing Fee | $20 |
| Dogs Spay or Neuter | $50 |
| Cats Spay or Neuter | $30 |
| FELV/FIV Test Cats | $15 |
| FVRCP Cat Vaccine | $6 |
| DA2PPV Dog Vaccine | $6 |
| Bordatella Dog Vaccine | $6 |
| Rabies Dog Vaccine | $10 |
Due to our limited space in our holding areas, we may not be able to accept a dog or cat that doesn’t have the above requirements. A list of local clinics is available to download.
