Position Title: Volunteer Services Manager

Job Classification: Non-Exempt

Assignment Category: Full time/40 hours per week

Salary Range: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour

Department: Volunteer

Reports to: Director of Development

 

Job Description Summary

The Volunteer Services Manager is responsible for assisting in the organizing and managing all aspects of the volunteers at MSRPAC. This includes recruitment, training, motivating, and deploying the volunteers to promote the advancement of the adoption center mission statement and to supplement/support staff functions.

 

Main Responsibilities/Functions

Qualifications

  • Recruits and cultivates volunteers, ensures they are properly trained and managed, and supervises them as needed to maximize volunteer engagement, effectiveness, and satisfaction.

  • Develop volunteer programs and ensure policies remain current

  • Update and maintain volunteer manuals, handbooks and other written materials needed to operate the volunteer program.

  • Manages, or oversees, the volunteer database, maintain accurate records of all volunteer activities, hours, and provides reports for the Director of Development.

  • Manage the maintenance of personnel records and statistics regarding volunteers.

  • Works with the Director of Development to include volunteer opportunities, information about upcoming trainings, volunteer thank you messages, etc., in the newsletter, on the website, Facebook, and other outlets.

  • Work with volunteers to meet schedule needs.

  • Serve as liaison between staff and volunteers to facilitate communication and cooperation in accomplishing Adoption Center objectives.

  • Work cooperatively with all volunteers and recognize the talent and commitment they bring to the MSRPAC

  • Edit and publish the monthly volunteer newsletter.

  • Organizes volunteers for both on- and off-site events.

  • Conduct trainings as needed.

  • Communicate to volunteers via phone, emails and newsletter

  • Participate in Emergency Response Team planning, and recruit and oversee Team Volunteers.

  • Attend quarterly scheduled Safety Meetings.

  • Coordinate Volunteer Recognition Luncheon yearly.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Two (2) years of working with volunteers required and one (1) year managing volunteers preferred.

  • Must work well with the public, including children, persons of varied racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual preference, and with individuals who are differently-abled.

  • Must have excellent administrative skills, be highly organized, motivated and remain flexible under pressure. Attention to detail and ability to organize and set priorities a must. Excellent computer skills, word, excel, database entry, etc.

  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work well in a team and independently.

  • At ease presenting in front of a crowd.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Must be willing to learn how to safely handle dogs, cats, and small animals.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
