Please note: If you have a stray animal, under state law the animal must be reported to or turned over to an animal control agency where it will be held for a period of time in order to give the owner the opportunity to reclaim it.
Riverside Humane Society Pet Relinquishment Requirements
The Riverside Humane Society does not charge a relinquishment fee. However, a tax-deductible monetary donation of any amount is greatly appreciated. The Pet Adoption Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit charitable organization supported solely by private donations and fundraising projects. The Pet Adoption Center accepts kittens, cats, puppies and dogs, but space is limited we cant take them all!
- The person relinquishing the pet must be the rightful owner and will be required to fill out a relinquishment form. In the case of an owner being incapacitated or deceased, the person turning in the animal must show proof of relationship to the owner.
- Animals must be healthy and social.
- Cats must pass a FELV/FIV medical test and a behavior evaluation (done at the center).
- Dogs must pass a medical exam and behavior evaluation (done at the center).
- Owners should bring all medical records with the animal.
If you would like more information about relinquishing your pet to a breed-specific rescue organization, contact the Pet Adoption Center for referral lists. |
